Time is running out. Ganny Ida has had the dream. And that only means one thing:
death. Now, Dr. James Brooks—-a renowned anthropologist and Ganny Ida’s precious
grandson—-is missing. All that remains where his body once was—-before vanishing into
thin air—-is the talisman: the focal point of Ganny Ida’s dream.
In order to save her only brother from an almost certain death and stop the
unfolding chain of events, Amber must go back in time when slavery existed. With
the help of two unlikely heroes, her dearest friend Malcolm and Clayton, the white
man she loves, Amber embarks on a journey to Benin, West Africa, that will test her
loyalty not only of her family and her heritage, but also of her love for a man
whose ancestors are the very cause of her people’s suffering.
Through its tumultuous and heart-wrenching account of Amber’s plight—-complicated
by an interracial romance—-Dark Roots teaches us that the only way to move
forward in the present is to explore and understand our past.
Jeannie Cobb graduated with a degree in English from Stanford University, and
spent the next several years developing and marketing computers globally for
various Silicon Valley companies and teaching English as a Second Language
before she went on to write her first novel, Dark Roots.
She spends her time with her husband Jerry and their four rambunctious children
between their homes in San Jose, California and her hometown of South Bend,
Indiana, where she was born and raised.
She says, “I pretty much traveled around the world for years as a high-tech
marketing person before I began penning manuscripts, but I had always planned
to sit down and write one day.”
